Hello welcome back.
After a teeny two-week break, I am back with Season 9 of That Voice Podcast, and what better way to kick off the new season than give you a little bit of a life update.
Lots of things are happening in my world. I asked you on Instagram @sallyprosservoice and @thatvoicepodcast if you wanted to hear about it, and you gave a resounding YES.
So this episode is a life update through the lens of how my INTENTIONS drive my ACTIONS.
It might seem obvious, yet I know I’ve spent many years in my life kind of just doing what I was doing because I was doing it. It’s like a roundabout way of saying I was playing out habits, almost asleep at the wheel. It really wasn’t until I started this business and invested so heavily in personal development that I realised this. Many people are living their lives asleep at the wheel. Not knowing WHY they’re in the job they’re in? Not knowing WHY they’re in the relationship they’re in? Or WHY their life is like groundhog day – new day, same shit.
And this is the programming right. The patterns that get hardwired into our subconscious from birth. And asking the question - why we do certain things goes a long way in breaking the patterns that are not serving us, not giving us the outcome we want.
And that’s why this episode is called intention drives action. Because that was a big shift I made, you kinda have to in business, where you look at the intention behind each action. This is essential for speaking. What’s your intention for making that video or speaking at that event. If you’re clear on the why, the how is easy. If your intention is clear your voice is clear.
Intentions are closely linked to VALUES. So one of the best exercises I did a few years ago was getting clear on my values. It was just like an internet one, pretty straight forward, but SO illuminating. What do I really care about, what I stand for, what lights me up? And how is every action I take guided by my values and intentions?
Sure, we don’t always get it right. Bring in the self-compassion here, it is never too late to make a new choice and get back on course.
Like Patrick says you can only eat half a bag of chips you know. I feel like the decision to open the bag is a commitment to eat the whole lot, but Patrick is right here, you do choose to pick up and bite each individual chip. We always have so many micro decisions throughout the day something like 35-thousand, so there are lots of opportunities in the day to make a new decisions, and as James Clear says every decision you make is a vote for the kind of person you want to be.
So today I’ll share with you five key intentions that are driving my six-week trip to Europe! Yay. We’re flying out of my hometown Brisbane Australia and we’re hitting England, France, Portugal and Spain.
This is totally in line with my big business intention for this year, which is GO GLOBAL.
I’m catching up with private clients, I’m speaking at the London Mind Body Spirit Festival and I’m running an incredible intimate workshop on May 10 at Soho House. This is called Speak Up for Your Business, because speaking with confidence, from the heart is the best way to forge connection with your audience. Whether that be on socials or on a podcast or speaking at events. And I’ll be coaching breakthroughs and taking people through my PPS formula which allows you to speak about your business and tell your story in 2 mins or 20 mins, so that is such a valuable tool to have up your sleeve. If you are a business owner based in Europe, get your sexy ass to Soho House on the 10th. DM me and we’ll chat. And actually you can join online as well AND both options include a bonus 1:1 with me worth more than $500 dollars, so I can get ears on your voice and eyes on your content. So get on board, this one day will change the course of your business for the better, and next time someone asks who you are and what you do, you’ll be like yep, totally got this.
So GO GLOBAL, it is geographically happening!
Another big intention for me is to BE IN MY FEMININE.
The biggest realisation of 2022 for me, was just how much I had been living in my masculine energy. This topic deserves it’s own podcast. Basics – we all have masculine and feminine energy, we need both. I was too much in the masculine push, the give, the controlling and it was taking a toll on my relationship and my business.
And since I’ve learned how to be in my feminine, woah I am a different woman. Surrendering to receiving, less doing more being, it is magical.
And as part of this journey into the beautiful feminine I’m embarking on a Water Priestess Retreat in the south of France. Over 7 days I’ll be guided by Dakota Chanel who is honestly an angel on earth. We’ll be doing water and sound ceremonies in ancient, praying, singing, hiking, soaking in pure hot springs and diving into the living legacy of Magdalene and the Cathars.
Speaking about this is bringing up emotions I am so looking forward to it. We need to bring a Mother Line Offering – something that represent ancestry on mum’s side and I have this beautiful necklace that belonged to my nanna Dulcie – my mum’s mum, and I have been wearing it and I love it, and I can feel her close to me and I am so looking forward to offering it to the land when we do our mother line healing ceremony.
If this is sounding way woo woo for you. I get that. A couple of years ago I would’ve thought I’d gone a bit cuckoo, I’m a going to do a what retreat. Water Priestess what?! And now I am just so grateful to be nurturing my spirituality, have connections with my guides and stay tuned, there will be whole episode no doubt on what happened, and I have the most beautiful white puffy sleeved dress to wear in our photo shoot.
So if your intentions are around being more in your feminine or masculine or nurturing your spirituality I’d love to hear what you’re doing to take action on those intentions.
So one go global, two be in my feminine. The third intention which flows on is strengthening my relationship with Patrick. For me this relationship is a central part of my life, and I wouldn’t be going to Europe for six weeks if it meant leaving him behind.
I love us when we travel. We travel so well together and having done a lot of travel, solo, with friends, with family, in groups of strangers – it is unusual to find someone you are totally compatible travelling with. Patrick and I are on the same page when it comes to the balance of doing and resting and eating and drinking and outdoor stuff and indoor stuff and historic landmarks cultural experiences. We just really like the same mix.
The only thing is the last two overseas trips I have come down with a bad lurgy. Like after my brother’s wedding in Spain last year, my voice went – it wasn’t from drinking and screaming – I just lost my voice and had that pain of like razor blades to swallow, it’s awful hey. I think Patrick had quite a relaxing time, I literally could not produce sound. Anyway we’re loading up on supplements this time and the water priestess retreat should have be vibrating at excellent health.
So yeh, this trip is a great way to strengthen and enjoy my relationship, and next is family and friends. It’s my intention to maintain connections with family and friends.
As mentioned my brother lives in Spain, he’s in Barcelona, I haven’t seen him since the wedding last year and his beautiful wife Marta is expecting a little baby. I have a cute little soft Kookaburra I’m taking over. My little sister Kara lives in London, she’s amazing and Kaz and I are spending a few night together in Mallorca. And one of my best friends Eammon – I’ve actually interviewed him here on the podcast, and we’ll be travelling around France with him and his husband John, and we’re doing the Anzac Day dawn service at Villers-Brettoneux, and anyone familiar with Australian military history will know the significance of that site and to do something like that with Patrick and my friends will be so special.
I also have an older sister, I’m one of four, she is up in Weipa in North Western Queensland and mum now lives up the road from me in Brisbane, she moved from Sydney. And dad is with me always wherever I go. He died almost ten years ago. If you’ve lost anyone significant in your life, how easy is it to forget the fragility and value of each day?
So my question is, if family and friends are important to you, what actions align with that?
And finally my intention is to take accountability to live aligned to my values. So I love personal development, adventure, time away with Patrick, seeing family and friends, going to the gym. And what I found happened was if I did not schedule this is, then my calendar filled up with clients. I’m so grateful to be able to do the work I do and change people’s lives and I know with my skills and experience and magic touch I am really good at what I do. That’s because voice is about so much more than just confident speaking skills it’s the essence of who you are. So honestly investing in your voice is something I highly recommend, because it will change your life. And if you’re listening to this and saying I don’t have the money, the time, got a lot of things on my plate. That’s how I used to be. In the past. I remember pushing an overseas holiday back and back at one stage in my life because I was waiting to get a boyfriend to go with – ridiculous, so I just went.
If you wait to not be busy to sign up for that program, you’ll be waiting forever right.
And so now I schedule it all in. My adventures are usually at least triple-stacked to ensure that I don’t become one of those people who say well I couldn’t do that because you know time, money, responsibilities. Of course there are different seasons in life to honour. But at the end of our life we’re going to regret what we didn’t do, what we didn’t say.
So a couple of weeks after we get back, we’re off to Tasmania to do the winter solstice nudie swim, where we drop our gear and run into the freezing water, that’s the day before our June speaker training on the Gold Coast – take my lead and book those dates if you want to become the powerful speaker you’re meant to be June 23-25.
Then in October for my birthday, which is October 4, we’ll be in Queenstown New Zealand where I’ll be helicoptering to Milford Sound which is supposed to be one of the most spectacular places on earth, I can’t wait.
Then December my ten day silent retreat, vipassana is booked in and I cannot wait for the breakthroughs that are bound to come spending that many days in meditation.
I’m not telling you all this as a flex, to be like look at me I’m doing all this cool stuff.
I’m sharing it with you as a reminder that we get to decide the kind of life we live.
I used to see people doing all this travel and adventure and think ‘oh must be nice for them.’
If only I had the money or the time or the leave from work or the person to go with or the this or the that.
Here’s the thing, we are in charge of our life. And I want my life to be the coolest most amazing life out there. Because what’s the alternate? Believing your life is just a bit shitter than other people. What a miserable way to live. If you don’t believe your life is the best life to be in, then it’s time to make some new choices. Be obsessed with the life you lead. And how is this related to voice. Well you voice is so much more than how you speak, it is the essence of who you are. So to lead the life you want, you must be obsessed with the voice you have.
So that’s a little life update from me. Exciting few weeks ahead. If you’re in Europe please drop me a line, say hello.
I appreciate you so much.
Take the time to get clear on your values and your intentions and then take action to match.
